Byron, whats happenin'. I'm not sure what the best temperature is for hatching these eggs (I'd really like to know myself b/c I've got one in my 75). I do however know that these sharks prefer cooler conditions once they are born--btwn 74-78 degrees. At 87 degrees you might want to think any other creatures that you have in there over-heating. I'm keeping my tank stable at around 81 degrees, and then once the shark is born lowering it to about 77. Try to keep your temp. swings minimal to avoid freaking out your other fish.
Good luck

Hey Digler, I noticed that you live one city up from me..What LFS do you go to? I've had a hard time finding any OUTSTANDING fish stores in our area. The best i've been to so far has been Peninsula Tropicals in San Carlos...the other two good ones that i've been to are in Moutain View and Sunnyvale.

Hey triggerhappy, I went to Ultimate aquarium twice in the past month and a lot of their fish looked really unhealthy. I saw some nice fish, and the customer service there SUCKED! I was never asked for help EVER. I've heard some people say that Ultimate Aquarium is good but I would only consider them decent, then again, we don't have many options, ever been to Fish For You, what a shithole...

Yeah, I'll check out Ultimate Aquarium again next week, when my cycle is done. But yeah, fish for you is pretty bad, I don't think i've had any luck with their saltwater fish...all diseased and dying...poor things...he always asks me if i want a triggerfish and he says "Fo you BOSS, tirty fie dolla"

I'm pretty familiar with Ultimate Aquarium in San Mateo. I have four saltwater tanks ranging in size from 75 to 240 gallons. I've gone there consistently for the past two years and have had the opportunity to get to know the owners. They are hobbyist themselves who decided when they opened up that store that they would not do to customers what they don't like being done to themselves. They are not salesman and refuse to look over peoples shoulders or hound them. They want people to have a relaxed experience in their store and to take as much time as they need. But don't get me wrong, if you need help or ask them a question, you will get their undivided attention.
Ultimate is by far the best on the peninsula not only because they have the healthiest fish and equipment section. I don't know any other stores who stock Hamilton Power Compacts in ABS and Retro. Since they opened look what happened to the stores in the area. Natural Life had to move out of the area or they were going to go out of business. Fish For You is only still in business because he keeps ripping people off (there is a sucker born every minute). Peninsula Tropicals has totally gone down hill and is not the same store it used to be.
I agree with Triggerhappy, check out Ultimate again, I don't think you'll be dissapointed.

Yes, I totally agree, Natural Life moved to Sunnyvale, that place wasn't very good to start with, I went there a couple of times when the old owner ran the place, do you remember when he got sued by the city because he basically left all the livestock he had down there alone with no care for like 2 weeks...rabbits, mice, fish all died. The new owners didn't do much better. I agree that Peninsula is NO WHERE NEAR the store they used to be. I recently found out that there is a new owner. The entire old staff is gone, they used to have an EXCELLENT well knowledged staff. They used to guarantee their saltwaterfish, they don't anymore. I actually went to Ultimate Aquarium two days ago and it was much better than the last time I saw it, there were a few dead fish in the tanks, and by the way, what is that black cardboard looking stuff that's in the tank? The fish seem to hide in there a lot. But yeah, two other good stores that are a bit far away are Aquatic variations in Mountain view and the Fish tank in Sunnyvale.

I got 2 false perculas and a royal dottyback. They're doing very well and are co-existing with my two small dominoes very well. They had some nice fish when I went in there, a nice tusk, some nice coral beautys. I can't keep either in my tank now...oh btw, sorry to whoever started this post, I sort of turned it into a local bay area LFS/Ultimate Aquarium topic...my bad!
