How long have you had said fish? I fed mine fresh seafood mix thet I found at the grocery store in the seafood section. My puffer also ate frozen mysis. IMO it is not wise to feed them live food such as goldfish or guppies, it can cause health problems.

A better live food to tempt the puffer, IMO, would be ghost shrimp. I agree that it is not good, and certainly not necessary, to feed either fish live feeders. The majority of feeders available (guppies, goldfish) are NOT a normal diet and do lead to health problems, in addition to overfeeding (and an unecessary expense). Lionfish, once the get eating, are usually not fussy at all and you can insure a varied diet....once given live food, they can become finicky.

I had a puffer and Lion in the same tank awhile back. Both loved "Silversides". Basically saltwater minnows. I could get a big frozen bag of them from my LFS. I was told that they are very nutritious for saltwater carnivors. If you thaw them out then drop them in front of a powerhead they look like they are alive and your puffer might go for it. Worked for me :D
