certainly not the expert, but my lion has been doing some rather active things in the dark here lately... I think he is becoming more adapted in the tank and he LOVES to hunt when the lights are off. Then again, if the lights are off and the flame is flickering it could remind him of some sort of electric fish in which he is frightened??

how long have you had this lion...
AND
have you ever had a lion before?
My lion hangs upside down and looks to be floating carelessly at the top fo the tank around the powerheads, he does this from one side of the tank to the other, but that is where he is happy.
NOW THE RED??is it blood?
Or could it be his/er natural coloring and you are just spazzing?
PLEASE INSERT PHOTO SO SOMEONE WITH LOTS OF LION EXP CAN HELP
Or my cure all to make a lion happy... GARLIC

Hey Tanks, I just had a cowfish do this, when I turned off the lights it freaked out, I had to keep the lights on at all times. I don't think it could see in the dark, but maybe shadows with the lights on. I treated for bacterial, even though it could have been a lion sting, this I am still not sure the cause.
I treated for 7 days with Lifeguard, if you have a antibiotic treat the lion in a quarantine tank.

You can not treat the main tank, if you use a antibiotic, I have always like K-Myacin/Kanamyacin when it comes to lions, I used Lifeguard on the cowfish. I have never experience this with one of my lions, I brought my cow home and two months later it started. I turned off my lights one night and it freaked, this was recent.
Here is my thread

I am wondering, on the day your lion did that with the lights out, it is possible it caused some type internal injury.
