lionfish and MH

I know that lions don't like bright lights, and I've heard quite a few times that they can be blinded by bright lights. However, I was just reading somewhere that even the brightest aquarium lights are no stronger than what a lion would be exposed to in the wild. It said that so long as you provide spacious caves and overhangs, bright lights shouldn't be a problem for a lion, and that most cases of lionfish blindness are probably caused by disease and malnutrition, but erroneously blamed on lighting. If you don't provide proper hiding spaces, the light could stress the fish out and make it more susceptible to disease, thus indirectly causing blindness. Despite everything I had previously read, this seems to make sense to me. Does anybody have any thoughts on this, or any experience with lions being blinded? I hadn't considered getting halides before because I really like my lion; but if it were an option, I'd consider it.

Since I upgraded from 1watt/g of NO to 4watt/g of PC my lionfish has spent more time under overhangs during the day when he used to spent most daylight hours chilling on the sandbed or on a rock. Doesnt seem to be any damage, but if you want to see you lionfish as much as possible lower light seems to be prefered.

I have a young A. lion in my reef tank.
Build him some caves and place your lighting on timers. During the brightest part of the day he will probably remain hidden, but during the dawn/dusk phase of your lights will swim more openly.
Lions do hide on the reef during the brightest part of the day. So providing proper habitat and good lighting schedules is important.
