ok last night i looked at my tank and everyone seemed great, then about 1 hour later i go to feed the fish my lionfish is deep red in color lying on its side and my clown trigger and dogface puffer are swimming very widly about the tank and i saw them take a few snaps at each other. I tested my water and found that my nitrates were high. So i did a water change, and about maybe 1 later my lionfish was dead and my hermits were starting to eat him....I had my lionfish for about 4 months...oh and my tank is a 55. Could it be the clown and puffer just snapped on the lionfish and stressed him out???i dunno i need some help uncovering why this happened. Oh i forgot, i did had forgot to feed my fish last night because no one was home, so maybe that had something to do with it.

that drastic of a change that quickly sounds like it might be stray voltage in the tank. Thats my first thought anyway.
what are all your water readings at?

How was this fish doing before this. It sounds like someone turned deadly aggressive from what you describe.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like an aggression problem. You often see that when mixing lions and very aggressive triggers. Triggers can snap at any moment.
