I'm really really really worried about my lion, theres no place that sells feeder fish and the lion will not take the krill or silver sides, my eel will ONLY eat krill. Man, am I going to kill my fish of poor nutrition?

Do u have a local petsmart or *****? I know, they both suck, but they both should have ghost shrimp for like 99 cents a piece. He may only eat live food right now, most of the time, lions when u first get them will ONLY eat live and you have to wean them onto frozen by wiggling it with tongs or something.

How big is your lion, and was he eating at the store. I would say hes just stressed out with that protein skimmer thing. Also lions are nt agrssive for food when they first get into the tank. So Id just wait and if he looks sick I would do a water change. Goodluck.

You can get them cheaper on the big auction site.
Also, didn't you know that lions eat live food only at first? Try placing a siverside on a feeding stick and shaking so it looks like it is alive. Place it in front of the lion.
They do not need to eat every day...so relax. You have a little time to try and train him to eat the silversides. After he starts eating the frozen silversides, place other frozen foods on the stick. THen try feeding him without the stick.
If you continue to feed him live food you will have to find a regular supply of same.

the silver sides i got where "cleaned" not knowing that and my eel wouldn't even touch it, but he would eat krill. I think it was a bad batch of silver sides,. I didn't know that lions take live foods at first, when i had my other lion he never was givin live only frozen foods. I got some ghost shrimp from a lfs (15 of them for like 6$) he is not eating anything. He will turn his head when i put a ghost shrimp in front of him. I'm worried about him

Dont try feeding him it will stress him out more. Espacially if you keep on adding food to the tank. Id do a water change keep lights off and in 2 days try to feed him the littler ones are harder to keep than the larger ones.

15 feeder shrimp for $6? that is outrageous. I get 12 for 1.75. I suggest you find another place because you are paying way too much for feeders.

I didn't know that lions take live foods at first,
In your other thread "Going to buy a fish Saturday"...(which you conveniently deleted) you assured me you had researched Lions and their needs...

Give him a couple "days"...to acclimate and become comfortable in his new surroundings...If he's a healthy specimen, when he's hungry he will eat...
Fish do NOT need to eat on the first day in the tank, and often it's not a good idea to feed them for a few days to allow their internal metabolism to stabilize from the stress of capture, transport and being dropped into a LFS tank, captured and transported again...
Seeing a fish eat at the LFS before purchasing and knowing it's eating needs and patterns in a fundamental part of new acquisition research...as opposed to say "impulse buying" ...

Well, they don't need to "always take live food at first"...that's the point of "resarch"...to be prepared for all sorts of contingencies...whether they happen or not...know what your getting into and be prepared for "all" possibilties...
I'm really not trying to get down on you specifically, cartman, ...Just putting the info out there for others use if they are looking into a new fish...and the problems they might run into...
Threads like this (and the one you deleted) can be useful tools to the "next" guy and help him avoid the mistakes/omissions you may have made..
