I am planning on starting a salt water aquarium. I am very fascinated ny Lion fish and from what I have read they are a little aggresive. So I was woundering what if any fishes I could include in an aquarium with them? I would also love to know what kinds of plants/coral etc.. would be prefered in an enviroment for a lionfish? I would really appreciate any advice. Thanks for taking the time..

You should post this in the aggressive forum, you'd get more results. Now lionfish get to big for 30 gallons, even dwarf lionfish. a 60 gallon tank would be the smallest size tank for a DWARF lionfish. If you have a 30 gallon you can get a snowflake eel, and maybe a valentini pufferfish. These fish can be safely kept in a 30 gallon tank. There are no real safe inverts that can be kept with aggressive fish. If you get these fish, the eel would eat squid, mysis, krill, and other meaty foods. The puffer eats the same thing, and you can give him a little flake to. Good Luck!

I have a volatin lion in my 75g F/O. It's not aggresive unless you put other fish in there that can fit in it's mouth. It doesn't have any teeth and swallow it's food whole. I think you can go with a dwarf lion, but get a really small one. Once it gets bigger, you might have to trade it in or get a bigger tank. Once you get one, it might just eat live fish, but once you train it, it'll start eating flakes, and other types of food.

I think that a dwarf lion would be ok, however if you plan on getting a full sized lion such as a volitan get something around the size of 75 gallons or more.
Later!
