Could a russels lionfish live in a 55 gallon? They only grow a couple of inches bigger that the anantea(srry horrible spelling)

no, the volitan and russels lion need at bare minimum a 100 gallon or a tank thats wide enough to accomodate their length and width, also their heisght will become a factor, infact many hobbyists i kno of have the aquariums open topped for their volitans and russels because their fins will come out of the water.

I would not, it is recommended a minimal 75g for the Russells, they will max out at 10-12 inches and they are very fast growers like the Volitan. Though the Antennata reaches 9-10 inches the rate of growth is much slower than the Volitan or Russell's, the Antennata may take years to reach it's max where the Russell's will do this in 18 months.
It will not only be tough to keep your water quality in check, once this fish starts growing it may stress, if this lion stresses it may stop eating, bacterial infection and so on......

55g is too small for antennata, look here: baby antennata 5 months ago on the eggcrate (first day), eyes and fins only. The second photo is antennata now, in 90g tank (pardon the mess), 4" long, excluding tail.
