they are on my glass not the fish i can't get a pic they are very small like the head of a little nail or something and the curve around like a snail shell does anyone know what i am talking about? thanks for any help

spirorbidae worms, benifical filter feeder, scrape them off if you don't like them.
Melody has a reall good pic of them and I will borrow it for this post.

thanks thomas you are the man should i leave them on you said benificail to filters i don't mind them should i keep them to help clean ?

They are fine for a reef tank, or a tank FOWLR. They ARE filter feeders, not benefical TO filter feeders.
Definately leave them unless they are messing up your display area.
