Live Rock And Cycle Question

I was told that I can put live Rock in to Start the cycle. Is this true, If yes will the cycle kill everything on the live rock?

Yes, you can put LR in. There will be some die-off, but there will be plenty of life that survives also.

This is sort of one of those 'it depends' questions. Where are you getting the LR from? If you get mail order LR, there will be lots of die off, since a lot of the things on the rock don't make it during the shipping, but if you use only cured rock from an LFS or someone else's tank and put it in a new tank, there shouldn't be as much die off.
