i had an old 75 gallon tank w/ probably 50lbs of live rock. When i broke it down to move i put the old LR in a big tupperware container and put some old salt water in it. Now its in my garage for about 5months is this stuff no good now? or do i just have to recure it?

Well depends is there a heater on it power head. I would not say it is dead but it deffenly need to be cured again and most hitch hicker have died.

If the there was a heater in the tub as well as water movement then no it should 'nt be dead.

5 months. August thru December. In the garage in Chicago weather. I would be surprised if there is any life in it. But it can be recured in that container or in a new tank setup and will be perfectly good rock.

Ditto that ^. I would recure it or bleach it and use it as base rock. It will greatly reduce the amount of live rock you have to purchase and over a period of a few months, it will become live again.

First off love your user name! Yes you can use that rock, but I personally would dry it out and then wash off the dead stuff. Then you can reuse it and seed it with some LR from your lfs to make it live again.
