I bought a sump for the outside of my tank(90 ) sump measures 24 L 18 high 12 w commercial tank. I bulk headed it so it flows back into my sump under my tank , which i have the protein skimmer heater ect . It holds 22 gals of water , I WANT TO PUT LIVE ROCK IN IT BESIDES MY MAIN TANK ABOUT FIFTY LBS.
HOW MUCH LIGHT DO I NEED ON IT AND FOR HOW LONG.
MY MAIN TANK HAS CORALS SO THAT IS FINE WITH LIGHTING.
THANKS

If it's just going to be live rock, I don't think it is going to need much light @ all. Most places, I've seen live rock, it has no light on it @ all, until you pick out the pieces you want. I know about 4 or 5 shops, that leave it in the dark, so I don't think that it's that critical. Just my $.02

you dont need much light at all id go to a home improvement store and pick up a small florecent set up for $8 . like a 15-20 watt

If you want to use the rock purely as a filter you don't need any light on it. The bacteria on the rock that eats ammonia and nitrite doesn't need light to function.
