hello and welcome!
1. the rock I got from this site was very good and decent price as well. It's been in my 30 gallon for about 4 months and is about 30% purple and had lots of little feather dusters and creatures on it.

2. Research. Fish selcetion varies on what you are looking to keep inthe tank, corals, softies, fish only w/ LR, etc. Choose what you would like but don't plan on adding any fish for at least a month so the tank can cycle completely.
3. Research. this also varies dependent on what youare planning on keeping. fish w/ LR you can get by with a PC or VHO, corals and anemonies may need more. Best rule of thumb = don't skimp on the lighting. the Sun is very difficult to duplicate.

4. I'll defer to the experts on this site, however, 2 900 maxijets should be sufficient.
5. Other areas of consideration are a skimmer, your filter of choice, carbon, test kits, etc...
keep reading these boards, pick up a couple of books, and above all...Patience!

Good luck and keep us posted.
