Live Rock Purchase

I recently purchased 20-25 lbs of live rock from SWF and it was completely devoid of any life. Is this normal? I bought another 8lb rock from a local place and it was covered in purple and light blueish coralline algae. Is this normal from shipping places? This is my first tank so any advice is welcome.

don't worry....they will become purple/grennish color in no time.....patience patience....it is always a good idea to cure any live rock when shipped online...cured or uncured...i have ordered twice online and always order uncured...just me

I ordered 100 lbs from SWF and it had lots of purple coraline, every single piece. It looked and smelled like it literally came right out of the ocean. Not sure what happened to your batch, but mine was great. I will say this though, since it's been in my tank for almost four months my purple coraline has more than doubled.
