Live rock question

I am finally at the end of curing my live rock.
(well one water change away.)
But my question is, My live rock has went though a big die off
and the poor thing is mostly white. I gave it a light rub down
but thats the color for now it seems. I am aware that life will return but i now see some stuff grown on it that looks like a white fungus (cotton) not balls, but big cloudy masses of see through skin. Some may say it is the process of the creation of sponges. Would that be the case? For I wouldnt want to brush it off without knowing if this is a good thing or bad. Please help
thank you.

Mine did that. Eventually that stuff all died off and peeled away leaving piles of crud on my sand. Now the rocks are mostly clean. :D

:) I guess its some type of seal that help the live rock on a cure like a scab. When its done, it will fall off. I was able to put some crabs in the tank
(thinking if it was bad the crabs would remove it) I also put 3 mollies in with some "cycle" to help the tank and that was like 5 days ago and everything seems great. The rock is getting serviced and the fish are doing fine :)
Thanks all :D
