Live Rock Question

People recommend 1 - 1.5lbs of live rock per gallon of water in the tank.
If I have a sump do I include the water in the sump in the above equation as well or just the MT.
I have a 55 gal MT tank with approx. 65-70lbs of live rock, my sump is also 55 gal but only has 40-45 gals in it.

You should be fine with the 65-70lbs of rock. The 1-1.5lbs per-gallon is just a rule of thumb... surface area is the most important thing. If you notice two different rocks of the same size can weigh substantially different due to the density of each. As all rule of thumbs in this hobby it's a rough guess to give people a starting point, nothing more.
