live rock question

Will adding additional live rock to an already established tank cause it to go through another cycle?

if the liverock is cured, the ur tank will not go thr a cycle. i buy cured live rocks from my lfs all the time, and add them to my dt w no problem. when u buy them from ur lfs, make sure the travel time is minimal. or hv the lfs put water in the bag w the lr.

always smell your live rock (if possible) before purchasing. It will smell really bad if it has not been cured all the way!

Yeap, can't mistake the wonderful aroma of uncured LR. Whenever I buy LR I take a 5g bucket and then add enough SW to cover the LR for the trip home.

My wife thinks I'm crazy, I do the same thing, always take a clean 5g bucket and lid to the lfs with me. never know what they will have

it also depends on how much rock youre adding . if your setup is 90 gal with 40 lbs of rock thats been running for a while and you add another 50-60 lbs you may cycle again.
