Live Rock question...

Hi,
Today I am going to the fish store to pick up a few pounds of LR. This will be the first time I have ever had live rock, so I was reading up on the life that comes on the rocks.
I read that bristleworms come on the rocks. This I dont mind so much because I don't really have any coral or anything they can harm yet. But what I am woried about is fireworms! I read that they can sting people and it hurts pretty bad, and if you pick one up with your net it can leave the stingers on the net and even after the worm is gone you can still get stung by what it left on the net!
So my question is, Are fireworms common(in your experience and what you have heard/read) in LR?
Thanks in advance :)

I have gotten LR on several different occasions and have never had bristleworms or fireworms.
But yes, if you have a fireworm, you may not want to touch it. However, I have seen someone at an LFS grab one with his hands. It cut his skin a little, but he said it wasn't too bad.

I probably have 260lbs of LR between my two tanks bought from 3 different places and types. I've never been bitten, stung or otherwise.

So far so good here...No stings here, but I was told by my LFS guy that it is like a bee sting!
I now have 85 lbs of LR in my 75G tank.... I am done now..LOL
I have seen a lot of different thing comes out of hiding after a while though. .. Today I saw a very teenie hermit crab.. with a white shell with tiny black dots on it.. VERY COOL!!! Should I buy x-tra shells and keep them in the tank so as these guys grow they can move??
Thanking you kindly, Kim
