Live Rock Questions

Was just reading the post "Disappointing Live Rock" & had a couple of related questions.
Is any one type of LR better than another or, is it just a matter of preference?
If it does arrive 'dry', do you have to take any precautions or do anything special before adding to the tank? Thanks :)
P.S. (not a related question) Just what does LOL mean???
BurnNSpy provided an excellent site for LR - www.exoticfish.com - great for those of us not to well versed in 'rock' - LOTS of photos!!

The main diff between rock, besides price,is how pourus it is. The more it is the better it will be for bacteria to grow in.If it comes dry,it is not live rock. Dry means all the goodies have been without water and are dead. Then you will have to cure it.Or just put it in the tank, and in a couple of months it will be LIVE.And lastly,LOL is laugh out loud.(real funny)or at least that person thinks so. Steve,
If you do not cure the 'dry' rock & just go ahead & put into your tank are you setting yourself up for some problems?? Don't know a whole lot about curing or, the finer points of LR, as I said. Would just like to be able to find some good quality w/o to much hassle before putting it into the tank. Don't need any more problems (Ohhhhh no, green hair....) right now, you know what I mean?? :) Thanks Oh, another thing - & pls. pardon the silly question. How does one know (if you order over the net) if the rock is more porus or not? Or, is just a crap shoot??

If it's shipped dry,and smells like sh88,then you will have to clean and cure it in a separate container. It's a shot in the dark when you buy anything sight unseen,But Usually Figi is a good bet.STEVE
