how do i clean the green aglae off the rocks. i currently have no fish anymore, and am breaking down my tank (eclipse 12) all that is left is some live rock and possibly a few hermit crabs. can i just scrub the algae off with a brush? i would like to use the live rock in my new tank (20 gallon) but not if it will cause an algae problem. i run lights, heater, and filter still but i am not putting any food into the tank so im not worried about it growing more algae at this time

You could get the algae off yourself, and if it ever returns, just buy a few inverts that'll take care of it for you. :)

Algae problems can be controlled with a variety of methods. I wouldn't not use LR just because it has a bit of algae on it. Algae isn't always bad...it means your tank is thriving, which is a good thing. It's when it overruns your tank that's not so good. :)
