Can live rock be added after a tank has already been set up or is it a MUST that it be put into place initially?

It can be added after the tank has been set up, but you will need to cure it if it is not already cured, or if you're buying from a place online such as SWF.com. Buying cured LR and having it shipped to you will most likely always produce some die off.
