not totally live but i kinda live. i dont think the inside of the rock will turn live. the rock its self will grow coraline eventually though

Yes, it will be colonized by everything in your tank.

Yes it will. Some people say it's not as good quality, but I have a mixture of dead and live rock and over time it should all become live. I think a mixture is the best way to go as far as variety and price goes, but it does look pretty ugly at the beginning.
