Live Rock?

Can you break live rock? Reason I ask is, I can order a 50# box of live rock from my LFS for $185. But I only need 35-40# of it for my 29 gallon tank. If I was to buy the rock by the pound at the store it is $5.09 a pound, so it is cheaper if I buy a 50 pound box. The reason I might want to break the rock is to aquascape my tank if the pieces in the box don't fit right with what I want to do, so I might want to break them to make smaller managable pieces. Just a question I though I should ask.

Yes, you can break the live rock. Most people do, in order to get it to fit or look right in the tank.

Yes, most definately. A lot of people fragging corals use broken pieces as well, so don't throw any of it away.

You sure can. All you need is a hammer and a chisel. You can break it into any shape you want. Just remember that if you order it through the mail, it will cause at least a mini-cycle, if not a full one, even if it's already cured. There will be at least SOME die-off while it's in transit.
