live rock

I have a 55 gallon aquarium with 7 damsels, 1 tomatoe clown and a picasso triggerfish. I also have about 60 lbs of live rock. my question is if i add some more live rock to my tank will this make my ammonia,nitrates and nitrites go through the roof? I was thinking of adding about 30 lbs.

No you level will not go throught the roof if you purchase good quality cured rock. Where do you plan to purchase your rock online, or from your lfs? Most rock you purchase online will have some die off, which will spike your levels. If you buy cured rock from your lfs and it doesn't spend too much time out of the water, you shouldn't have to worry about your levels rising. And even if they do spike, your existing lr and cleanup crew will help to cure the rock quickly. HTH

I have a 55 gal tank with 50 lbs of LR purchased from SWF.com that went through the cycle with my start up. I have purchased LR locally one piece at a time with interesting growth and added it with no problems at all. Bought a 5 lb LR last weekend with 15 green striped mushrooms for $55. Don't know if that was a good deal or not but I wanted it :~).
On Saturdays I have noticed people who are breaking down tanks bring in their LR to sell it back to the LFS...can get a good deal on fully cured at a decent price if your there as it happens.

I do the same thing... When ever I see a cool piece of LR , I buy it ... I have done this several times with no spike ... I buy smaller pieces though, only 1 or 2 pounds... Most people at the LFS that I go to pass over the little stuff... I find building with them works better for me than really large ones...
