live rock

Can live rock that has been out of water for about 3 months be made alive again or should i just throw it away and by new ones

If you like the size and shape of the rock, by all means keep it. I'd scrub off any crud and put it in the tank with some live rock and eventually the coralline on the live rock will spread to the used-to-be-live rock. Be sure you have enough calcium in the tank and good water movement to spread coralline spores.

ya it was really ashame i like the shapes also i was wondering i want to keep a bamboo shark for about 2 months in a 40 gallon then by that time my 200 will be done cycling and he can move in there will he be ok with no live rock 40 lbs of live sand a marine land emperor 400 the marine land magma H.O.T filter and a power head also Some decorative corals

is the tank already cycled, how big is he???
if hes not too large i think he'll be fine by himself.

can i use clay as a substrate well i dunno if this is clay but this amd also how important is having live rock can ijust have fake corals if i have good filteration a H.O.T magnum filter and a marine land 400 filter. Thanks for any answers

Actually, if you want to keep a shark, you need a fine sand substrate, and minimal live rock in the tank, believe it or not, sharks have sensitive skin and bamboos spend most of their time on the bottom. It would be a good idea to use a DSB and put the LR in a sump with a good light on it, reverse photoperiod would be ideal. I know that there a few well experienced shark keepers here that can give great advice. I would start a new thread with bamboo shark in the title, you'll get their attention. HTH
