Live rock

I have a 55 gallon FO tank with crushed coral substrate, canister filter and a protein skimmer. My tank has been running for 6 months now. I have 1 damsel, 1 clownfish, 1 yellow tang, 2 snails, and a sallylightfoot. The question is, I have about 20 lbs of base rock and recently purchased 10lbs of live rock. Will the live rock eventually seed the base rock with all the beneficial organisms that is contained in the live rock? As I obtain more live rock should I be taking out the base rock? Thanks this is a great forum.

The live rock will seed the base rock. The base rock will eventually become live rock but there may be somewhat less diversity of life. It can also take a long time to get coraline algae growth. You don't need to take the base rock out. For a tank that size you should consider gradually adding some more live rock (and perhaps more base rock) as you can afford it.
