Is your tank new?? how long? what kinda lighting do you have? Has your tank gone through the algee cycles?? if you have a fairly new tank the brown you are seeing is most likely Diatom algee. It will go away with time dont worry

my tank is about 1 month old and i bought the live rocks with all the purple algaes....anyways, thanks for your advise....my light is one actinic blue and one 50/50..i dont know how many watts.
That sounds like Diatoms blooming in your tank then..... just wait it out it will go away. then you will go through a light green algee film then it too will go away, then your set. good luck
