Live Sand

Hi all! been reading these boards for a while and am getting tons of great ideas, thank you all.
now to my question, My LFS says that Live Sand is a gimmick and just a way to get more money from me, he also says that it can be dangerous because what it can bring into the tank with it. What do you all think?
this is the plan of the tank just incase the info is needed
Going natural with the berlin system
30 gallon long
1/2 inch of sand (is the live sand worth it?)
45 lb's of fiji LR
hang on skimmer

well thats interesting....never heard of LS being dangerous. With mine i used a 50lb bag of LS and then some play sand. Very seriously doubt that the LS is dangerous. You can do with out it but it does make things a little easier.
