can i use an underground filter with live sand? im just real new to this and just want to buy only the things i need can someone give me some ideas and what equipment i will need im starting a 20 gallon tank.

I recently returned to saltwater - the new school says no undergravel filters at all. Use the search button at the top of the page - you'll find a ton of info for new tank setup topics...

thats a great link!
I wouldnt, just because all the small sand will clog up everything, ruining pretty much the whole thing.
