Hey, I got about 40 lb of Ls and it has been sitting in my tank for over six months. How do I know if the copeopods are still alive? I dont see anything alive there other than the occasional brissel worm. ALso If my copeopods r still alive how do I increase there number? I remmember ther being a kind of food u can give copeopods but I forgot what it is. If you can answer any of my questions I would be very grateful.

Add some LR rubble and your pods will multiply. I'm not aware of anything you can "feed" your pods to make them grow faster.

what do you mean by LR rubble. Is it broken up pieces of LR?

Yeah, you can go to a LFS and ask for some rubble from the bottom of their curing tanks. They usually will just give it to you or make you pay like $1 a pound.

U dont know how much hassle youve saved me also I was wondering. If I bought LR wouldn't the microfauna from the LR go into the sand?

Yes, the LR will seed the sand. You never know what you will get on the rubble from a LFS because it has usually been in the tank for a long time. I put some in my canister filter and my pods bred like crazy.
