Ok I'm switching from CC to LS. I have a 55gallon tank. How much sand should I use? What is the best way to do this? I don't want to empty the tank to put it in so how much should I change at a time. Someone said you can use a funnel and tube to put it in. Does this work? Will my fish and inverts be ok during this process? Any answers would be great thanks.

Way to go on the switch....cc is a load of.....well never mind that! :) Put in enough to make a dsb (deep sand bed) of 3-4"....maybe about 150 lbs or so??
btw, just as important, what kind/brand of sand are you using?

for a 55 gallon tank you need right around 8 gallons of sand. remember you do not have to buy all LS. if you add LS to dead sand the dead sand will become live sand after a bit.
