Right now I'm using crusch coral in my reef tank, about 3 inch . I want to change to live sand . Do i have to take all the crusch coral out . Then add live sand or can I just add the live sand in with the the crusch coral .
you really will want to remove the CC first. its a pain in the butt, but it is worth it. the cc if left in there will always end up on top of the sand.
I just got rid of 4 inches of cc in my 120. OMG was there a LOT of detritus!! I had bad problems with high Nitrates and I finally know why. The Nitrates are now about 20 ppm and coming down. Over many years, the cc can become a mess.
