I just got back to work from a quick trip out to FedEx and over to the house. My replacement Flame Angel is happily swimming around the 10g QT!!
I did the normal bag float for temp acclimation, then an aggressive drip for ~20 minutes. It acted a bit dazed when I first opened the bag and emptied
it with the bag water into the bucket (pH swing?), but soon perked back up when tank water began to drip in.
I expected the fish to run and hide when it entered the tank, but it immediately started swimming around checking out the new surroundings; not the least bit timid.
Beautiful fish! I won't claim success until I get back home in 5 hours and see it continuing to swim around, but so far, so good!!
Oh, the bag water was 1.018 salinity.
Sounds like they made up for it. Cool. Hope he is in the tank for many years to come. I love the look of the Flame Angels.
I have a questions though... When doing hypo to treat a fish I have been told to raise the SG slowly (take a few days to get from 1.009>>1.025). If SWF is shipping fish at 1.018 and you drip acclimate for even three or four hours that is quite a swing in SG. Right?? Takes all kinds, I guess.
