local hardware store ballast kit for NO lighting?

will this actually work? useing the ballast kit for just regular florecent bulbs?im just curious, i know not to use the actual bulbs it comes with, i will switch them with marine glo type bulbs

You can use a regular ballast to run NO bulbs.

thanks for the info guys, my dad was talked into the retrofit kit for 100 bucks for 94 watts for his tank and the guy will install the kit into our old hood, SCORE!
