i have done this before, it took about a week to go through the cycle, i had a few pounds of live rock and a wet/dry system, it does work, i wasnt saying to fill up your tank with water and stick a dead fish in it, ment that you need to have your system(filter,pump ect...) set up but this will speed up the process of cycling by alot

Or just use raw shrimp from the grocery. I have 4 baking in a 54gl right now. Today makes 2 weeks and Ammonia is back to 0, Nitrites and shifting down still above 5 though. And Nitrates are showing at 10.
