I just bought (3 days ago) a long tenicle anemone and he seems great except for he hasnt attached any where yet and im not sure why. I have other condis but no other long tenicles so im not sure what the prob is. He was drip acclimated and the condis (bought long ago attached after a few hours but he has gone 3 days now with out attaching to anything. There seems to be no other problem with him he's eaten already but he lays over on his side and tumbles alot. Is there something i should be doing to help him attach? Or will he when he wants to? <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

The first (and last! ) long tentacle I bought was via the internet and I had the same problem. He would just float around and wouldn't attach. He died.
I then bought one from my lfs. I put him down and held him for a couple of seconds on a rock and he hung right on. The problem was that he wouldn't stay put and would wander. They'll go wherever they like and if you try to move them back to where you want them it wont work. They'll just move right back (crazy things).

I've had a long tentacle anemone for almost a year now..and he's getting huge! he loves the sand bed, but will get up and wander every few weeks. He seems to like stronger current and usually places himself directly infront of a powerhead.
For the most part..when they walk..there's not much you can do...I just like to slow down the current until they settle...that way they don't end up sucked into a powerhead or overflow..(which has happened to me before!)
Have fun!

What color is it? Is it mostly very white? If so, it has already expelled and is as good as dead, and there is nothing that can be done.
If it has a mostly tannish color there may be hope yet. They prefere higher current and strong light and need to be directly fed several times a week.
Sorry to sound so negative, but in 30 years I have never seen a tumbling anemone eat.
Good luck!

Well hed brownish with geen tip and he's huge the day he came home he ate a med raw shrimp today he ate another he hasnt expleed anything and he moves his head and body around but he just wont attach?????????

This maybe off the subject a little and maybe information that is to late but:
I read never to buy a long tenticle anemone if it is not attached to a rock!!
I purchased 2 that are on 1 rock I put the rock on a front corner of the tank (not touching other rocks). The anemones move around that rock and they have stayed their for 8 months now.
I wish I had a answer for you but I dont :(
