ya idk lol....after 3 designes yesterday, I came up with this one and found out that simpler is better(and easier) ! I was thinkin getting a piece of wood that is thin enough to bend?!?! Darn bowfronts! I suppose i could leave it as is....
really my goal was to get rid of the eggcrate and hide some of the equipment!

You could take another board the same width as the boards you used on the sides and make a bunch of kerf cuts in the back of it. Then it will be flexible and you could easily bend it to shape and tack it to the side pieces.

Yup - get some real thin paneling and use that. It'll need "legnthwise bracing" and I used the front of my wavefront tank to trace the cut needed straight to the wood supports - then just cut it with a jig saw (or bandsaw) if you got one. I just glued & tack nailed it to the frame, it worked great.
I was worried when I saw the title of the thread - last time I heard that line - my cousin sent a pic of a newborn son. lol

thxs for the input corey and tang~! i may try it ur way corey cuz i want the wood to match up kinda....and i dont really understand wat u mean by the supports tang?!?! Do u mean run it horizontaly across the back part of the bow? Or do u mean run it from the very back piece of wood???

Kerf cutting is best done with a table saw but it can be done with a circular saw as well. You have to have your depth set just right. The sharper the curve the more cuts you have to make. Check out this link and you can get the idea of how it's done. http://stusshed.wordpress.com/2007/07/17/kerfing-bending-wood-on-the-tablesaw/

Agree with a couple methods mentioned above.....The kerf isn't super hard to do....just you have to play with your spacings on your back cuts depending on your bend/radius.....Once you get it cut and bent you finish it off to keep that shape with some high hide glue.....
Probably I think the easiest would be to soak thin strips, and bend to the radius with a jig and ratchet strap......

hmmm k well i got a dremel today....came with some accesorories but i deff need a lot more of em!

I'd use the Elmers glue in this application....Gorilla glue is to messy and foams way to much and a PITA to clean up once dried........

Wanted to see wat u all had to say bout it!

Wish you luck!!!!! I played around a while ago with bending wood......I actually used 1/4" Poplar and soaked it for a couple hours and used a ratchet strap and placed the piece in a jig I had fabbed up and cranked down on the ratchet strap, and let it dry, and resoaked it again and again till I finally got it to the radius I was after....With that thickness didn't need to use any kerf cuts though.....The piece has held up quite well....I still have it laying around the garage......

when I made the canopy for my corner bow, I used cheap tongue and grove pine paneling. I have a thread here somewhere.

How about a piece of vinyl house siding...It's flexible and about the right width, and cuts with tin snips or heavy sheers....just cut to size and paint it, it even has a fake wood grain.
