I was cleaning my rock following a series of problems, one being a severe infestation of bristle worms. After sitting outside overnight this guy came out. It actually broke in half when I was removing it. Is this a bristle worm too? I have a couple more so far that same size and many more that are not so thick. :scared:

That is actually ONE worm...it broke in half.
All my LR has been in the tank for 1 year. It was in my tank, but had been taken out to clean off aiptasia and these worms. I did not know I had some of the magnitude though.

OMG, I think I would actually cry if I found one that big. Seriously, I'm pretty tough for a girl but geez this thingwas just plain nasty. And I could see more inside the rock, ewww.

One LFS near me throws handfuls of bristle worm in their cured live rock tubs, because they say they are good for your tank. I've heard there are things that will eat them, like arrow crab.

Yikes, that is one ugly worm lol! Now i know why you want to get rid of them, i am tough for a girl also, but that is gross :scared: I wouldn't get an arrow crab though, mine ate all my small fish, they can't be trusted, so why chance it?

maby an arrow crab will eat a small one but what happins when they get big like that.
When I was younger we used to go fishing with worms that look like that but we called them clam worms and they bit.
Good luck exterminating
