Looking for a cool eel with personality...

I currently have a 20" or so Zebra. Real cool looking when it is out, but unless it gets hungy every 3-4 days I never see it. It seems to find a hole in the bottom of a large rock and crawls inside. Even when it is time to eat it only shows it heas and 3-4 inches of its body. I am getting bored (to much money for the little personality that it has).
Any suggestions for an eel that will not eat my other fish and will get along with the zebra but will be out a little more?

well, you have to realize that eels arn't open water animals, so they're not just going to be swimming around the tank a lot.

I have a teseelata Eel and its almost like a fish because it never sits at the bottom and its always swimming in the Tank. I dont know why but it is such an amazing eel. But its is very aggressive, it almost took My finger OFF last week when i was feeding him. I recommend Tesselata for those who wane get a show Pet. These eels like to play around ( i mean always).
Here is a Video Link..actually its not mine but mine look the same.

I can afford the dragon, but not the lives of the rest of the inhabitants it will most likely make into snack food.

actually most of the rap that hdmes and bdmes r nasty fish eaters is merely based on a few bad experiences, for example AW has kept his hdme w/ plenty of other fish as well as another moray, most r pretty docile when it comes to agg fish

Tesselated Eels are great looking but grow to be very large. They are very aggressive and it is possible that it might eat your zebra. I have a 2' Zebra, and very small Fimbriated eel. The Fimby will become very aggressive like the Tesselated eel, but not as large. Most eels are night time dewellers. So matter what eel you go with you will still face that issue. If you want something cool go with a Ray...like the California Sting Ray. They are great and hardy, very docile-mine eats out of my hand. Always active and fun to watch.

the prob w/ cali rays is they need a chiller, otherwise they dont do well, a tessy would not be a good choice since he wants to keep other fish, same deal w/ a fimby. also rays need a bigger tank than he has

A Dragon eel comes out alot for what I see at the store I work at. And we have alot of tanks to take care of... Maybe over a 100 tanks and well over a 100gallons or so... We have some tanks that are 650Gallons and as tons of eels in it....
I have seen some that eat each other so keep that in mind as well!!!!!! Not all eels are bad but thay are ones that bite as well....Mean eel's!!

Snowflakes do not lay like the Zebra (aka Striped Logs). Mine is quiet active and usually all over the tank. For a tank where you can add other fish I would recommend one.

I think i read a white eyed moray would be good as it feeds on crabs and shrimp. I think you should look into that.
And not to be rude but sharkboy unless you have owned the eel and know first hand please dont recommend dragon eels or say that they are very docile. Dragon eels can be very aggressive and i know this first hand. I have delt with about a dozen brazillian dragons and all had to be kept alone or they ate what ever was in with them. As for the hawian dragon they say they they are best in a species only tank for a reason. I have never actually delt with one but i would not recommend an expensive eel that i dont know first hand can go into his setup and not eat everything. Just my 2 cents.
