Brief history
Ok Ive been out of the hobby for @1-2yrs and had to get rid of my tanks due to needing more space, but now that have moved and have a lot more room Im getting back in. My old setup was 75gal with LR, some fish and a few corals.I had a overflow with sump and T5 lights. Sump had macro algae and pods in it. Also had 29g biocube with corals and few fish and 125gal with eels and angel.
OK now history on tank im getting.
70 GAL with overflow and wet/dry filter. It has regular lights i think? It was a saltwater tank just they havent run it in a few months cause lack of time.
Ok i want to make tank into reef with some fish and Im looking for a little help before I dive in again.
1. Is wet/dry a good enough filter for a reef? Should I change this?
2. Tank is tall 24in and only 12 wide, so does lighting need to be any different than normal?
3. Whats some good lighting options for this tank? MH, T5, I even saw some people posting about LEDs, which I have no history with these.
4. What would be a nice skimmer for this tank?
5. Anything else Im missing?
Ok what I know/done in reefing:
I have had mostly softies, zoas, and shrooms. I love zoas. I had some frogspawn that my clowns lived in for awhile but took it out. I had it for @4 months seemed to be a little bigger than it was when i got it. I also had a sun coral and loved it but i used the upside down2 liter bottle to feed it and i was always hitting the cave it was in or something else, so I gave it to a friend whom still has it today, it is about 2 year old. Only SPS i owned was a birdsnest, it was like 3 inch in dia lived for @ 4months then just started turning white at tips and i could never figure out what was going on with it, everything else was ok at the time. I did regular Mag, Alk, and Cal checks and added 1 to 2 times a week what was needed. I never had a Cal reactor or anything like that just dosed.
thanks in advance for help.
