looking for advice on skimmers

hey guys, i've been searching around here and couldn't find much help.
to get to the point... im looking to get a new skimmer and would like to ask everybody's advice on which one to buy.
i have a 29 gal fish only with no lr. im in the price range of around $100.
i have been looking at the bak pak or coralife superskimmer, to name a couple, but heard mixed reviews.

Maybe there's some low-priced gem out there I don't know about, but I think that in the $100 range, mixed reviews is about as good as it's going to get. Although, you might be able to get a good deal on a used skimmer if you're patient and dillegent.

Put the skimmer on hold for now and get some live rock instead.

Do NOT get the superskimmer unless you have a sump. It sucks as a hang on.

lr would be great but i live in hawaii so i cant buy any lr... thanks all for the advice i guess ill hold out on the skimmer for now.

I'd heard Hawaii has some crazy strict import restrictions. Ever considered making your own?
You might try posting in the Nano section of the forums and ask what skimmer they are using.
