I was in my LFS today, and I saw this very interesting fish, which I would like to order. The common name is "Look Down Fish" as in the anatomically correct position for a fish it appears to be looking down. When I type in "look down" into the search engine on SWF.com store it give me no response.
It is silver in color almost like tinfoil but smooth, and beautiful. The only ones he had were huge and I wouldnt buy fish from him anyway as they always have ick.
If you do know what I am talking about, can you tell me some info on it?

yeah i beleive lookdowns are native to mid to south atlantic waters and can be caught in florida, they get pretty large and are pretty hardy if you have a tank large enough to sustain them

The only time i've seen lookdown fish is at the aquarium... in one of the BIG tanks... lol
They get to be pretty big, and unfortunately have no idea how well they do in captivity

I believe it is an "angler" fish. There is a good store I've had very good experience with that carries them small. They do grow pretty big though. e-mail me if you want the link. amalaby@hotmail.com

Scientific name is Selene vomer, they get to be 12 to 16" long, are NOT reef safe, and prefer to be kept in schools.
