Looks like feather dusters

I have a 90 gallon reef tank which is doing very well has been established for 5 years. I'm seeing alot of brownish dusters growing from the rocks and glass. Are these harmful to the tank or a bonus? I can send a picture if needed

Use something safe and move it close to or on the clusters. If there is retraction then it's likely a colony of some type of tube worm I've colonies of what look like tiny tube worms. Someone told me once what they were but I forgot.
Have you added any new rock lately? It seems unlikely that aptaisia would suddenly appear without it being brought in. New growth of colonies of other animals isn't all that unusual in a long term tank.
Of course, a picture speaks a thousand words.
