Looks like Israel won't be happy 'till we declare war on Iran...

Well it looks like Benny Netenyahu and the Israeli President are putting the full court press on Obama to get him to commit to a war with Iran. Just what we need. Another war. Sigh.

What did you expect. Iran is starting to buddy up with the Egyptian muslim brotherhood. Which Obama just happened to recently send a bunch of military equipment too. Puts Israel at risk.
Stupid move or part of a bigger plan?

Assuming we do something against Iran it will be pushing buttons, not boots on the ground. Not sure to what extent an even push button war is better than letting them get a nuke but think of how different the world would be if we had prevented the Russians and Chinese from getting nukes.
This is Just another example of what a waste of time and money the United Nations is.

There is a medal for that!

What buttons can we push? Also, can the USA control the world? (preventing China and USSR from getting nukes?)

China and Russia have nukes. They have possessed nuclear weapons for a long time now. Russia did their first nuclear weapons test in 1949 and China did their first weapons test in 1964. Those are 2 of the 5 "Nuclear-Weapons States". The other 3 are the US, France, and the UK. That doesn't mean that other countries don't have nukes. It means that other countries that have nukes are not part of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.

Deton, I know China and Russia have nukes. My comment was directed to reefraff's statement regarding what a difference the world would be if we (USA) had prevented them from getting nukes. How exactly would we prevent it? They actually could figure out how to make them anyway, even if they had not gotten the nukes when they did.

Ok,
Sorry Beth. Hopefully I didn't come off as argumentative or condescending. It wasn't meant to be.

No problem. I have a lazy habit of not quoting those who I wish to respond to. I can see how my post was confusing.

Seems to me, we prevented Iraq from getting nukes. Syria. Libya. Cuba, if looked at in a different way......Iran doesn't have Nukes yet.....

Had we been able to prevent it there wouldn't have been the slaughter in Southeast asia, Korea would be one country and Cuba would be some sort of Democracy. The Chinese and Russians were able to export communism because we were afraid of starting a nuclear war and didn't do everything we could have to stop them.
Not sure we could have prevented them from getting the bomb. But we could Iran. Are we going to be sitting here 20 years from now thinking "what if we could have prevented Iran from getting the bomb".

I'm assuming that we are just as good at hacking as the Chinese and Russians, and very likely lead in that regard. Even our good friends the Israelis have been caught hacking us! LOL
To be honest, bio weapons is the real scary stuff for me.
Reef, are we supposed to go to war with every country to prevent them from getting nukes? If the Israelis want to bomb Iran, then let them.

Being the largest communication network nation in the world makes us equally vulnerable as it does good.. It is a pretty serious threat. And Iran has actively been seeking to build a cyber army. They're a little bit ticked off over the crippling economic sanctions we've posed against them in order to deter the nuclear threat. Our transportation, utilities and banking systems have already been compromised by outside threats before.
But agree, bio weapons are pretty nasty stuff too.

It should be the UN threatening countries against developing nukes. I am not saying whether or not we should be the one's to hit Iran, just if we did it would be push button. But someone needs to do it. China should be able to deter the Lunatics in North Korea from doing something crazy. There is nobody who can keep Iran in line.

Cuba, maybe, but the rest; doesn't seem that way to me.  But explain.
We didn't prevent Iraq from acquiring Nukes? Really?
Syria's nuclear facility was bombed by Isreal in 07. If anyone believes we didn't have a hand in that they are naive.
President George H.W. Bush sent a letter to Khadafi in Libya before the end of his term. In a nutshell President stated that if Khadafi continued pursuit of nuclear weapons the U.S. would obliterate his country. This brought Khadafi to the table in secrets talks with president Bill Clinton. Through these meeting Khadafi stopped Nuclear procurement from the mid 90's forward. The ironic thing in all this? A couple decades later we assist in the leader's removal...thus spurring some international doubts about our country due to negotiating the stoppage of nuclear acquisition and then subsequently destroying the government afterwards......this action has spurred some countries (N. Korea and Iran) to continue testing at an escalated pace than before....
Iran has been under sanctions, they have not acquired a nuclear capability yet. They are a year away....I am willing to bet we will play some part in delaying them their acquisition.........

So Israel bombed Syria to prevent them from getting nukes, then why not just let them do the same to Iran?

. Geography and logistics might be a huge problem. When they hit Iraq many years ago they believed their pilots were on a suicide mission. Plus the eyes of the world weren't as watchful of Syria and Iraq back then as Iran is today. I still feel Isreal will ultimately be the ones to attempt a strike. If it is logistically feasible for them.
