Lost my entire tank :(

Well I just came home to a completly dead tank.
I was out of town for 4 days camping and came home to my loved ones floating at the top of the tank. I figures that it happens once I finally fixed my hair algae. The circuit that the tank was in somehow must have gotten cut off. I came home and didnt see the light on in the house for the tank and knew something was wrong. When I saw that the house had power and no clocks were flashing I knew something happened. I saw my beloved clownfish floating at the top dead. He has been the best fish for the last year and a half. He has survived everything including driving down the beltway when I moved and had to move the whole tank. My tank was a 20 gallon and I had one clownfish , yellowclown goby , peppermint shrimp , cleaner shrimp , pulsing xenias , feather duster , and a clean up crew. I know its only a 20 gallon but I loved it as much as anyone who has a big set up. I just can't believe that it had happened. It figures that everything else that I worried about didnt happen such as a storm knocking power out , or rocks falling over or something. Sigh , Im just really upset.

Yea I will be starting another. I just can't believe it. My fihs was so special to me. He had the best personallity and has been throguh everything. I just know that no fish will ever replace him. It just so sad to see your tank like that. Things floating and falling apart. I have lost things hear and there but its nothing like loosing the whole tank.

This is just a huge downer. They were the best little tank gang, all of them had such great personalities and were so fun to work with and watch grow over the year and a half. I am really going to miss them but hopefully, our new animals will be just as fun.

Thank you soo much for everything you have done to help me with this. I am so happy that you got it for me a year and a half ago. It just sucks that we lost it all that way. Atleast I will have you to help me with the new one. I love you! :happyfish

Sorry for your loss.
Ever figure out what the root cause was? I know you said circuit was turned off. Why? Good thing to know when you start over.

Very sorry for your loss. I used to have a cool scopas tang that had an awsome behavior but sadly he died of a swim-bladder disese.

SO sorry for your loss. I know if something happened to my tank I will be flipping out. Those things grow on you. I nourisgh them like babies... oh man I hope you feel better soon and start a new cycle with a new reef. Pick your stock accordingly to bring back the enjoyment.

Today me and NanoMan94 started to rip apart the tank so we could start cycling agian. In the process of taking rocks down and disposing the dead we found:
5 Nassy snails
2 Ceiths
4 Crabs
3 Nerites
2 Bubble Bee snails
Right now the liverock and the survivors are in a rubbermaid 18 gallon. Its set up with heater , powerheads, and a filter.
While at the LFS I actually got a 25 gallon. The price was great and it was the only tank that was bigger that would fit on my current stand. Right now that tank just has the sand in it, couldnt get any further too tired. Thats all the update for today.

I am so sorry to hear that. I have moved my 75 gal tank 3 times in the last year and a half because of the military and I always lose something. Right now i just moved again and my clowns are doing really bad. I am sure I will cry if they die too. They have been such good little clowns...enduring the first two moves across states was amazing. It is ok to be sad....just dont let it keep you from pressing on...best of luck

Today we got the rest of the l/r in the tank and the remaining water. We also set th powerheads back up etc. My snails are still living in their rubbermaid container. We also got new powerstrip which may have been what triggered the circuit to break. I can't wait to have my tank back but it will take time.

It's slowly coming back together again. I think there are some good shelves with our new alignment for corals and what not. I love you and our tank will only get better!

I'm so sorry or your loss. I can relate to that a lot because i had a clown in my 20 gl long reef that I had had ever since I started reefing....So by this time I had already had over 30 fish I'm assuming...He was the only one I had elft and he woudl eat out of my hands and even jump into it if i put my palm on the surface of the water...This fish was unreplacable. I lost power for 2 and a half days and the tank got down to 54 degrees. i tried to save what i could but i lost everything, including a pretty stocked coral lot and the fish (as well as about 4 others i'd had for quite some time).
I now have the tank going again and it looks better than ever before. I really hope the same happens for you.
