What Going on everyone? Here is my story. I recently bought a new house and it came with you guessed it a Saltwater Aquarium. Anyway I have no clue about anything having to do with saltwater fish tanks. Im here to learn and ask a few question about my tank. I took pictures so you guys can tell me how many gallons this thing is and so on. The only thing I know is that it has been running for over 1 1/2.
Here is how the tank sits now

1.How many gallons does this look to be?
Here are some closer shots of the tank starting from left to right

2.What kind of anenomie??? im guessing is this?

it has been getting smaller little by little is to far from the light? water?

3.Here are pics of the setup. I wanna know what kind of setup im using so I can learn more about it...

Heres a pic of the fishes in there and also I want to know what these fish eat I have been giving them flakes but I dont think its adequate..

4.What are all these different things that came with the tank do?

Hopefully you guys can help me out Ive been reading but its hard im a ultra noob to this. Also there were two long thin tubes that would light up deep blue compared to those big bulbs but only one would work. I checked and the ballast is messed up. I tried to do a reverse look up by manufacture but they closed down. Any help would be great and Thanks in advance.

Wow. Where to start....... well for starters, the "anemone" is not an anemone its a bubble coral. The thing is that there is just sooooooooooo much info you need to know. But once you know it, saltwater is easy!

Wow. First of all, welcome to the hobby. I've been at this for nearly 3 years but i think i'm still a noob as I haven't had the funds and or time to truly devote to it. It looks like you have at least two or three things in there that are of special needs like the emperor snapper and marine betta, although i'm not sure about what that needs but I know the emperor snapper gets HUGE and even that tank is probably too small. But don't quote me on it. All I can really say is, in all your spare time READREADREAD. lol. I could refer you to a great website if you'd like, but I can't post it here. If you'd like email me and I'll be happy to provide it for you. It's helped me HUGELY in many situations. All n' all. Congrats on the house, my wife and I are relatively new homeowners and parents. It's fun. Congrats on the tank. And good luck and have fun!!!

how many gallons, I couldn't answer for you but I know a lot of people on here could. They would need to know the dimensions of the tank. You might want to post that. Height, width, and length. As for feeding the fish. I make my own food by putting clams, shrimp, scallops, fish (anything that isn't too oily) mussles, egg yolk, crab, squid, and some defrosted mysid shrimp into a food processor. It stinks but the fish LOVE it! You can also use frozen prepackaged food if you don't want to make your own. As for your equipment... I'm not that educated about the different types of set ups. I really only know my own, I haven't been in this hobby for very long but because your rock doesn't seem to have a lot of color I would say you need better lights or new bulbs. Unless you have sea urchins in there that I didn't see. I've heard they eat all the coraline from your rock.
Saltwater gods, Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I would say read all that you can on the keeping up of the tank....I really wish all homes came with tanks like this lol. As for the corals you may want to get a turkey baster and shoot some of the "cyclop-eeze" into them. Go to the fish store and there should be a feezer with little packets containing cubes. Look for the container labeled "Krill" and your snapper should eat that. the clowns should be ok with the flakes, but you could also look for some packets in the freezer labeled "mysis shrimp," I bet the marine betta and the clowns would eat that also. I would say look up the bulbs and get new ones. The bulb in pic #10 is called "metal halide" you have screw in's and they will cost anywheres from $40-130...depending on what type you have. But I cant emphisize the thought of reading as much as you can...and feed the fish the ones I indicated. Also you could probably give the "bubble coral" a cube of the krill also...it is a carnavore.
Please anyone correct me if I am wrong.

I would go buy some test kits if there aren't any, Sailfert is a good brand or maybe bring your water to a local fish store to see how the tank is doing. Make sure you are topping off daily with fresh water if there isn't a auto topoff, it seems like a obvious idea but my pet store couldn't grasp it so just throwing it out there. Looks like you have a wetdry system for filtration. Not recommended around here really, but I would leave it until you have a good grasp on things. What I would do is start looking for people in your area with saltwater to help you out or a good fish store. It looks like a nice tank, just needs some love. Good luck, and read, read, read!

Take the LxWxH divided by 231= gallons of tank. Do not include stand and canopy obviously.

can we get a rub the head smiley?
there's no way to tell you your tank size. the pic could be 6 or 8ft. it also could rise into the hood some inches.
please give your fish (especially the betta) to a responsible caregiver.
anyways, looks like a 125-135 in my best estimate if it is 6ft.

while he does have a few special needs fish it's not like he HAS to get rid of them all. i'm sure he's rather capable of doing some reading and research on what they need and what his duties are. give the guy a chance geez.

Hello! Wow a tank already set up and ready to go.!! :cheer: If it were me I would have a professional come in and see exactly what type of tank you have-check parameters-check your fish-and guide you in the right direction as far as feeding and maintaining the tank-there is alot to learn! It would be well worth the money to get some good help to get you started and keep your tank going safely. Good luck! Keep us posted! :happyfish :happyfish

Test your water.
It looks like you have several dead corals, plate, sun coral and some other. Your nitrates are probably high from the bio-balls in the wet/dry filter and possible lack of water changes.
Also, your pH and alkalinity may be off.
If you want to get back into corals, you'll need to check calcium and magnesium.
Welcome to the boards.
Youve come to the right place, just read, read, read and you will find many hours of enjoyment with your new tank.

Got paid today so went out and bought a Red Sea Reef Lab test kit from *****. Has nitrate,ph,calcium/ I also bought a hydrometer here are the results i got.
Hydrometer Was Maxed out at 1.032 salinity
Phospate was at 1.0-1.2
Calcium is 500 ppm
and the nitrate i had to do two test one low range and it maxed it out then high range and it also maxed it out
low=50
high=250
where do I go from here? I believe the kit has supplements to add to correct these numbers right?
