Loud Eshopps skimmer

I have a PSK 75 hang on Eshopps skimmer and the pump is LOUD, I mean hear all the way to the far end of the house loud. I emailed Eshopps and their only answer was that it takes 72 hours to break in. I can't stand it for more than 30 minutes, let alone 72 hours.

Tuesday I plugged it in and went outside for 4+ hours, when I can back in it was louder than ever. If I take it off the skimmer and out it in water and run it, it's nice and quiet. I can't find a brand on the pump to replace it, not that I want to pay for another one just yet. Does any one have any idea what might be wrong and what I can do about it?

Are you hearing the PUMP or the air being sucked into the venturi tube? I'm running an Eshopps cone skimmer on one system and it's dead quiet, however, I had to make a DIY muffler for the ER RC-180 on another setup.

It's the pump. It kind of sounds like a powerfilter that has run dry on crack! LOL!

It's a really loud rattle, enough to run me out of the house. :( I read that they have had a lot of problems with bad impellers, I wonder were I could get a new one or maybe rob a magnet off another impeller and try that????

I'd get ahold of Eshopps...they should be able to help you.
