I have a 85 FO tank. I would love to have a reef. I am not competely 100% comfortable with my FO. I only started it in May 2001. I have a Hospital tank 20 gal. that I thought I might convert to a reef. It has a very cheap setup. cc for sub. and undergravel filtration, heater. thats it. could I convert that by adding live rock? whatelse would I need? Or would I be better off waiting till I was comfortable with my 85 then conveting that. My 85 has a Amiracle wet dry, red sea berlin turbo protein skimmer, uv sterilizer, 2 rio 2100 power heads.dead sand for sub. What do you think?

Check out my Reef Basics web page on that very topic.
From feedback I have gotten from others my FO to Reef method is effective. Let me know if you have suggestions also.

all you need is lots of lr and lights, you can set up power compacts for a relativly cheap price, but the lr on the other hand is usually about 6$ a lb., so you can buy 40lbs of lace or base rock and like 100lbs. or more lr and sit the lr on top of the base ot lace
