Low pH level?

I understand that the water is highly acidic if my pH level is below 7.7 but why is it like that? What is the cause? Please respond asap.

Actually, 7.7 is still slightly alkaline. Did your tank suddenly take a dive in pH? If so, what have you done or added recently?
