the noob can't wait any longer, to ask the most moronic question, probably EVER posted of all time. i have seen lps & SPS USED HUNDREDS OF TIMES OVER THE LAST SEVERAL WKS. SINCE I STARTED USING THE MSG. BOARD. PLEASE TELL ME THE BASICS OF THESE X2 CATAGORIES.

SPS=Small polyped Scleractinian (stoney) coral
LPS=Large polyped Scleractinian (stoney) coral

Of the two, SPS are more demanding and less forgiving. As mentioned, SPS need plenty of flow, hight lighting (T5 or halide) and perfect water conditions. LPS are generally more forgiving, can thrive under anything from PC to halide, and tolerate different levels of flow.
Some examples of each (incase you didn't know)
SPS: usually end in "pora"; acropora, montipora, stylopora, poccillopora, etc
LPS: candy, torch, bubble, brain, etc
